Bayou Angel Disaster Relief
Rescue & Rebuild
Our Projects
More often than not, when being deployed to a natural disaster, almost everything in its path within an hour or two radii has been destroyed; and that includes hotels/motels. This poses a serious problem for first respondents as, after putting in a full-days work (which could be anywhere up to 14 hours) we then have to drive an extra hour or two to our sleeping quarters and then get up the next morning and drive that distance back to the disaster. As you can imagine, that is physically taxing and stressful. This also means having a lack of proper lavatories and finding somewhere to eat and relax an issue.
During the current COVID outbreak, Governor John Edwards of Louisiana designated a few state parks into quarantine sites as an overflow location for patients who needed to be quarantined but could not return to their homes. Unfortunately, these parks were not close to most patients and were hardly taken advantage of.
Being able to bring our trailers to the people and sites of disasters will solve a host of issues. The first respondents will be close to their quarters to be able to relax and have more downtime. We will be able to house individuals and families until such time they are able to return to their homes safely.
These units run independently and do not require any municipal power source or outside sewer connections. Because of the large capacity of freshwater (1000 gallons) and fuel (200 gallons) that are self-contained on each trailer, this will allow the units to function for 2 weeks without having to be serviced. This means that the units can be dropped at any location and will be ready to go immediately.

Project 1. 16 Unit Housing Trailer
The 16-unit housing trailer is the first of our projects and will be the most widely used of all the different models. It sleeps 16 people, has two lavatories/showers, and a small kitchenette with eating area for four. The main purpose would be housing the first respondents on the site of a disaster. However, it could also be used to house volunteers and displaced civilians.
Project 2. 4 Unit Housing Trailer
The second project will be the 4-unit housing trailer. This can also be a multi-functional unit. Private quarters for displaced couples and long-term disaster management personnel. There will be four separate sleeping quarters with a small kitchenette connected to a jack-and-jill bathroom.

Project 3. - Family Trailer
This unit would mainly be used for displaced families. There will be two fully-functional units with a separate bedroom. The bedroom will allow for loft space to sleep the children as well as floor space in the living room. There will also be room enough in the trailer for one studio unit.
